TRANNY
5-qts: MTF 75W-85, or API GL-4 75W-85, or 75W-90
TRANSFER
2-ltr: Matic D ATF, or Nissan Automatic Tranny Fluid
FRONT DIFF
1-ltr: Diff Oil Hypoid Super GL-5 80W-90, or
REAR DIFF
2-ltr: Diff Oil Synthetic 75W-140, or API GL-5 Synthetic Gear Oil 75W-140
It's a conspiracy I say, a conspiracy...
Nissan does not sell any of this as they only have it in bulk
Pricing this stuff out in consumer size containers comes up to way more than it would cost to just take it in and have the dealer do it.
Guess I'm not doing this myself...

I have to admit to doing that once.
I was in a snow storm driving a 1970 Ford Maverick. I had driven around many stuck cars in my apartment parking lot. When I got to the main road, there were several cars ahead of me having difficulty climbing a snow covered hill after leaving a stop sign. Most had to be pushed over the hill. When my turn came, I too, could not get over the hill. One of the guys pushing my car mentioned that one of my rear wheels wasn't turning. That is when I remembered that I had set the e-brake the night before while changing a flat tire. Car made it over the hill just fine w/o the brake on!
In my defense, the e-brake on the Maverick was set by pulling a lever out of the left side of the dash. After setting it, the lever was returned to the dash to make room to get out of the car. There was no visible indicator that the brake was set.

Had to do some repair work on my mower last night so that I can cut the lawn tonight. Had two flat tires and a broken seat hinge. The seat hinge is welded on, so I had to grind off the old welds, and weld in a door hinge I found at Lowes as a replacement. Took the tires off, and pumped them up. Dunked them in the swimming pool to check for leaks. The rear tire had a nail in it left over from the siding job. When I pumped up the front tire, it was leaking around the rim briefly, but then seated itself. It didn't show a leak when checked under water. I suspect I broke the bead last time I used it, and reseating it when I pumped it up fixed it.

Question for those using the synthetic diff fluid - I'm sure it's been said and I missed it sorry
Do you still change every year even with synthetic?
I guess if the Fit got synthetic oil I should probably get some for the S

Spent more than 47 minutes on hold with the IRS just trying to get to a live person... then my (office) phone battery died and I had to hang up.
They sent me a letter saying I owe an additional $300
I need to call back on my cell and have it plugged in. Just don't have the energy to try again today

Honda recommends every 15K miles IIRC. I'll let the others with more knowledge chime in with what they think should be done. I'd think it should be good for two seasons. I changed mine at Knapp last year and plan on doing it again next year. Please let me know if I'm wrong.
