For those of us without kids (and no desire to have any):

Marc, I think its a great idea getting Sarah to learn how to drive stick. Better yet that she has chosen a MS3 as a potential future vehicle. You will have a hard time keeping up with her now

Good idea, just as long as she learns. Is she a very short person? I was just wondering if she can reach the clutch pedal OK.

It's the perfect learner
I would do the truck over the S hands down, and for a very specific reason
The 6-speed in out truck has a very, very, very low 1st gear
This will be a huge advantage to the student because a perfect gas down + clutch up is not really needed
The ability to get the truck moving is much easier because of the low gearing, and just getting the damn vehicle to move forward without stalling will do a lot to boost the student's confidence
And there in-lies the secret, making them feel good about their progress will propel them forward to do even better
Teaching is a head game, I love it

I'm only 5' and I don't have issue with the S. It is weird to be that low, especially since I drive an SUV, but if you adjust the seat back almost to the full upright position, and put the seat up close enough to reach the clutch, unless she is shorter than I am, she should be fine.

Of course, I sit a bit too close to the air bag, but unless I can get adjustable pedals on the S.......
