Store is telling tales then - home depot web site says "The SHEETROCK Brand UltraLight 48 in. x 8 ft. x 1/2 in" -- Lightweight gypsum panel offers effortless handling".

If one piece truly weighs 60 lbs this debate is in vain because there's no way I could lift one

And you know Tom is not going to be helping with this little project - he might break a nail

I talked to our tech friend Jim at formula H today. He has a truck. I offered him the $40 to haul some drywall for me but he did not sound that enthusiastic <sigh>

I guess I need to pick a day real soon, rent a van and be done with it.

Sort of. I'm not mudding and taping, only drywall on the ceiling. I expect to live here until I buy... in which case I will practice DIY on this place

It will cost me a whopping $105 for drywall, another $10 or so for screws. If I want to call the tightwad co-owner I can request reimbursement. $100 for piece of mind and not having insulation fall on my head every day... seems pretty cheap.

Yes pretty much. Tom wears alot of clothes.

I think its only a matter of time before Frank steps aside. Since going public, he has kind of stepped back. They are forging an alliance with Jaguar to help them develop road cars and will try to improve their F1 situation. Eventually Frank will sell out and step back into a figurehead role at Williams. My $0.02

They need Mike Coughlan as much as he needs them. Lets wait and watch whether he will be able to make any difference at all. The regs have changed a lot since his days in F1. Hopefully he wont resort to his old tactics.

Good luck putting drywall on the ceiling. That is a tough job. Helped my brother do some. Had to make homemade lifts and stands to get to lift it up and into position. I'll never do it again.

Hope you have cleared this with the landlord.

Edit: You are in luck! The "light weight" drywall is only 45lbs per 4x8 sheet.

Deck was fine when I got home. Stain the fascia boards tomorrow, then it's done!

Always a nice feeling to get a needed project finished.
Today I'm going to mow my lawn before all the rain comes. It will probably be at least mid next week before the yard will be dry enough to do it again.

I think that's more work since you have to put up the frame work and it has to be perfectly aligned or the sheets don't fit in right.

Not sure of the price on that either... and not sure how much height I would lose... we do have a nice 7 foot clearance so it might work OK. Something to look into anyway.

I've never seen anyone on TV do a drop ceiling though so not sure exactly what I am getting into with that - but I've seen LOTS of drywall being done
