Not a question of being dumb or smart. It is how much one can take. When you have bawling babies to tend to and trips to make to games, piano practice, ballet lessons OR if you work long crazy hours that also include over an hour of commuting each way then you just dont have the time to indulge your passion unless you are extremely committed to it.
Most people want their car to keep working with no issues or red flags so they can focus on the priorities they have set for themselves or speed bumps that life throws in their way.
Is the CR-V a passionate purchase, definitely not. It is a decent looker and was designed based on feedback received from the customer base. That said I'd not be surprised to see soccer moms or dads feeling very passionately about their CR-V for all it does and for its reliability.

Nope.... much against my vociferous protestation about not buying a CR-V, we bought the Impreza instead
just a few weeks ago (car was out of warranty by about 3-4 months), the driver side windshield visor failed. Just flopped down and refused to stay up in position. It was fixed at no charge under goodwill consideration, but such a failure has never happened to me in a Honda. OMG! starting to sound like FanBoy here
