I LOVE MY FIT !!!
It's perfect. I bit soft when the AC is blasting, but otherwise what a great little car.
The stick/clutch is ubersmooth but I have made shavings once or twice looking for 6th gear in the Fit's 5 speed box.
Just a smooth, solid, well built car.

As much as I want to get Sarah into a car with a stick, I've been mulling it over, and I've come to the conclusion that it is beneficial to have one vehicle in the fleet with a slushbox (not to be confused with an Aaslush).

I'm just one bad day from wrecking my knee again, and then it'll be no more stick for me for a while.

We're getting genuinely more and more interested in the Sonata. Obviously I'm pushing Sarah to get the 2.0T version

Not sure about a slush box, but for whatever car I get next I think I'd like a six cylinder or a V8. I've driven some but for very brief periods of time. I'd like an extended experience to see how much of an improvement they are over the four-pots I've owned so far.

A diesel would be an option too if those become widely available and cheaper.

Sarah is really liking the idea of the Fit as well. I just worry about merging/passing ability of the vehicle with an automatic.

Drive one this weekend. The car is no slouch. Remember it weighs much less than other cars. I think you will like it. The only people I have met that dislike Fit's are the ones that have not drive one as yet.

Take one for a test drive... I think you will be pleasantly surprised Keep in mind with the Sport model you will have paddle shifters and you/Sarah is inclined to, you can always force the car down a gear for more power -- or just plant your right foot hard on the gas

I am very impressed with this automatic -- I feel like its way more responsive than my auto Civic was.
