They should send the guys on the GT-R and Z teams to work on the Sentra. Years ago, it was my compact of choice. I just loved it. But sadly it went downhill from there just like I see the Si today.
Today I find it occupies an awkward space lodged between the Versa and the Altima. An awkward placeholder at best.
SE-R Spec V dreams kept me going through college until I met the Acura RSX-Type S

Not a hatch, but a cool car for the time. Had several friends that autocrossed these:
The B13 was the first to offer Nissan's famous and then-new SR20DE engine in the sporty two-door SE-R model. Setting subcompact speed records of the time, the Sentra SE-R came with 140 hp (104 kW) @ 6400 rpm and 132 lb·ft (179 N·m) of torque @ 4800 rpm. It could accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (100 km/h) in 7.6 seconds and the quarter-mile in 15.8 seconds. It came with 4-wheel disc brakes and had a MacPherson strut independent suspension. Further improving the handling was a viscous limited-slip differential, which was standard equipment on the SE-R. The B13 SE-R has developed a cult following over the years and is still a car of choice among tuners, and returns 21 MPG city/29 MPG highway

I surprised myself. Posted on Gruppe-S' thread for the Legalis R asking for a quote. Not buying for sure though. I have other expenses that are a priority, and unless one of them gets cancelled, I can't commit to buying one.
I guess the S2000 is a little too quiet for my liking and all this talk of exhausts has me thinking about one. Maybe I'll get a test pipe too just so I can bug Ellen

Good to hear you are taking care of the brakes early in the season Jeff. Should make for more exciting racing in the days to come
The picture is nice. I need to check out Ed Hyman's page. Is he on your list of friends on Facebook?
