My wife and I have been looking at charging stations. What we have been seeing are level 1 charging. A level 1 charger doesn’t support a trip.
In Finland we can find level 3 charging easily with apps. Everywhere we have traveled there hasn’t been any problem finding charging. In 2023 87500 new cars were registered here. 34% were fully electric. 47000 were either fully electric or plugin hybrid, over half of the cars sold. There is a greater incentive here to buy electric. Electricity prices are about the same as in the USA, possibly a little lower. Gasoline is a little more than twice as expensive here. It is no surprise that EVs are not as popular. No economic incentive or ease of charging.

Spring is coming and I hope all of you are ready for the new driving season.
Because we have a tesla, the tesla superchargers are what we use when we take trips and in our experience they've always been open and they will charge my car from near empty to full in 20-30 minutes. I've used a level 1 charger once and it would be a nightmare if i had to rely on that solely. in 5 hours it only charged my car from 20-50%. At home i charge off a tesla wall charger @ 32A which will charge at a rate of approx 32 miles per hour.

I don't know if I reported this, but a few weeks ago, I took the Ford Escape to the junkyard.

It's rather depressing ... I got $350 for the car, but it won't last as the Uber is rather expensive.

Any tricks of the trade on how to keep the rollers in place while trying to put the cv bucket back on?

Yous should be able to hold them in with one hand while you slide the cup back on with the other hand. But i always do these on the bench so i just hold the axle vertically.

and you purchased that brand new about 10 years ago wouldn’t you say?

RIP Ford Escape - I’ll fondly remember riding in you when El Jefe was freaking about offering the then new acquaintance, Dave Nicholas, his spare engine.

I've admired the Viper since I was a kid. Been eyeing gen 5s for over a year now. Traveled 3.5 hours this weekend to look at this 2014 GTS. Might be the most beautiful car I've seen in person. The shape, specs, and presence are stunning. It made the Ferrari next to it look dainty and boring.

Was ready to pull the trigger until I sat inside. I couldn't make sense of the driving position. Sitting squarely in the seat, the centerline of my body was four inches to the left of the wheel center. The pedal box is very narrow. I couldn't pivot from the clutch to the dead pedal without clipping the clutch, leaving no where to rest my left foot when not changing gear. Dead pedal is useless even with my 10.5 shoe. Everything felt askew. I spent 15 minutes in the car adjusting and trying to convince myself that it was ok, but in the end had to walk away. This is way too much car and power to not feel comfortable with the controls.

Completely bummed.

You made the right call for you. I know people probably live with how it’s built, but you aren’t like that. Good call. Maybe there is something else out there for you.

Ah Bummer Mark, I remember many years ago i wanted a BMW F800r motorcycle, i waited years for them to finally become available and when MAX BMW finally had one i rushed right over. I was completely let down, the bike felt uncomfortable, the seat was huge, it just felt big and bulky. I had waited so long for them to come out and then i had to walk away. I know your feeling.

Good news for you is, there is a lot of cars in that price range, so i'm sure you'll land on something cool

Wow, that last picture really hammers the point home how the steering wheel is off-center from the seating position. I don't think I could live with that either.

You made the right call in passing on it. That's too much money to spend on a vehicle you don't feel comfortable with - especially with the reputation Vipers have for being a bit...unruly.
