Spoke to a mechanic friend of mine, he said I should replace the cups?

...that just regreasing them is something you'd do if you weren't going to keep the car a long time?

Can I even get replacements if I wanted to?

No need to replace them. The driver side is the one that wears down, and it only wears in 1 direction because your moving forward 99.9% of the time. By swapping the cups side to side you are changing direction on the cups, so that little divet that gets worn into the cup is now on your passenger side in the reverse direction only. The inside OEM Cups are $400 a piece, save yourself the money and swap them, it's tried and true and a well know fix.

Thanks Jake, I tried to tell him you know what you are talking about with the S2000 but he didn't want to listen

So I got the CV buckets out, a lot easier than I thought it would be climbing under the car.

BUT...

When I pulled one of them off, 2 of the roller wheelie thingies (not sure what they are called) came off the CV joint.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE tell me that I didn't break the CV joint when I pull the bucket??

They come off and will slide right back on to the end of the axle, no harm done

You're talking about the small pieces on the end of the CV joint and not the CV joint itself, correct?

Jake
What is your experience with the charging infrastructure?

My wife and I have been looking at charging stations. What we have been seeing are level 1 charging. A level 1 charger doesn’t support a trip.
In Finland we can find level 3 charging easily with apps. Everywhere we have traveled there hasn’t been any problem finding charging. In 2023 87500 new cars were registered here. 34% were fully electric. 47000 were either fully electric or plugin hybrid, over half of the cars sold. There is a greater incentive here to buy electric. Electricity prices are about the same as in the USA, possibly a little lower. Gasoline is a little more than twice as expensive here. It is no surprise that EVs are not as popular. No economic incentive or ease of charging.

Spring is coming and I hope all of you are ready for the new driving season.
