Glad you were able to get home safely. Hopefully it isn’t a major fix.

I took my car out for a little drive yesterday. Topped off the tank and put er away for the year.
Side note: I saw an older gentleman driving a red AP2 with the top down. Not sure what was more impressive - driving with the top down at 40 degrees or the fact he was wearing a beret.

1957 Volvo Woes: Went through my spare parts boxes and found two starters. One is presumed to be good – according to my note to myself. One had been pulled from the car for unknown reasons and is presumed to have failed. I also found an extra flywheel.

I’m wondering if the starter operates like a high torque starter, where the starter gear is engaged to the flywheel ring gear at all times – as opposed to the bendix style where the starter gear flies out and retracts as you apply and then cut power.

You should be able to get something working from what you have. If the starter is spinning it is possible that just the drive/bendix has failed. In the remote possibility you are not able to have a working starter let me know. There is a 6V starter in my shed that was put on the shelf in 1970. I'm not in the states but can arrange for you to get it if needed.
The MGA posts in the last thread were great. Thanks

That’s kind of you Rich. Hope you guys have been doing well. Your PM was in the news yesterday.

The race this weekend should be exciting.

A solenoid replacement should make that starter serviceable again if you ever need it. It's worth the time to inspect the solenoid before putting it on the shelf.

Don't let that news about Sanna Marin mislead you. She has been doing a great job running the country. The top five ministers were all women until one of them had a staff member mess up a training purchase for her. Way overpaid for the service. It put her in a bad light so she quit the post. Kind of a waste because she was good in the job.

The race is going to be a nail biter. Looking forward to it. Lets hope they both keep their cool and don't get crazy. Lewis is going to be tough to beat. He always digs down and get the job done when he needs to. I'm hoping for Max to win. This has been a good season.

Doing good over here. From what has been posted all on the forum are doing well. Haven't heard about the new house the one fellow is building.

Not mislead at all. I think news has become such an all encompassing 24/7 thing that even trivial issues get blown up at times.

Im hoping for Max too, but will be cool if Lewis wins it too. We’ve had a great F1 season and I think what we saw in Saudi was the pressure of the season build up on everyone including the drivers.
