The Civic's dash is an improvement over this:
Honestly, who thinks it is a good idea to put gauges in the middle of the freakin' dash?
Well on that I agree, the MINI interior just makes me want to barf
And as bad as that is, this is worse

I'm waiting for the car makers to put what's important in front of the driver. I-pod interface with heads-up display!

Civic dash is easy on the eyes. Granted not everyone likes it. Most people that "own" one get used to it and end up liking it.

For an econo-box it is a great design feature and the exhaust note is not muted so one does always have an aural inkling of engine speed.

I will admit, that it can be disconcerting for someone that has only driven a Civic on the rare occasion.

I can't wait to see true electrics at an autocross. The torque would be great for the small courses. They need to make them lighter though.

The thing that was interesting to me was the talk about holding engine revs getting prepped for the next run so as to help put a strong charge in the battery. If there is a real battery juice drain issue, maybe the car would show a surprising aptitude towards a longer course where the brakes would get a workout, which would help battery recharge.

I totally hear you when you say this - I can't wait to see true electrics at an autocross
Do you remember the old, ugly GM EV1?
That was pure electronic car, back in the day when I lived in Honeoye Falls the village was overrun by them
GM had boughten many of them back and handed them out to their employees at the GM research facility in Honeoye Falls
I remember attempting to do a stoplight race with one, I was in the S
Let me just say, that ugly little electric car not only ate up the S2000, but spit out the bones

I'm just so happy and proud
I just got this from the collector that got the my '85 Nighthawk 650

Passed the inspection this AM with nothing more than 2 mechanics
drooling over it. One of them said, "I have the exact same bike but
it's nowhere near this nice!".

Ran down to the county office and transferred the title and it's wearing
a TX tag now and a Tom Green County Inspection Sticker.

I know you gave me a great deal on it, and I thank you for that. That's
one of nicest 26 year-old daily riders I've ever seen.

Hmmmm, that might explain why I saw an EV1 in the driveway of this place on University Ave that I would pass by every day on my way to work.

I can't believe that was 6 years ago...

They were everywhere, like a cockroach infestation...

I don't think I went to the grocery store more than a dozen times in the 6-years I was there and there was not at least one EV1 in the parking lot
There was a guy employed by GM, his job was to take the cars from the parking lot after people got to work, and run them over to a different building in the village and recharge them. Once done he would return them to the parking lot so people would have a full charge when they got out of work.

And the other thing I remember, they sounded electric, it was indeed strange to be in the S, top down, fully exposed to the environment, and hear one of them pull away from a signal light. Totally not a car sound at all!
