What does one do with the canisters of gas that power a grille - when they are empty? Can you recycle those? I bought a set of two at sears but did not think to ask about "returns"...

Need to go find the guy that told me "we have four seasons and NO TORNADOES in the North East" when I told him I moved here from the South.

Take them back when they're empty and you can exchange for a full one at a much lower cost, generally.

Marc that is awful about the water issue.
You do need backup, some go with battery, some use water pressure pumps if you are on municipal system.
Sounds like silt / critter draintile clog.
If it were me, and I'm just anal, I'd get my concrete drill out and dig another sump hole.
If I was on municipal water, I'd use a water pressure backup pump. If not, battery. Someone said keep spares. Yes !
The next time it'll die is Christmas eve.

I too have developed a crack in my foundation that leaks during heavy rains, doesn't pour out but enough
to get the floor wet. Before that the basement was bone dry.

Marc, be sure to post up any insight you receive on how to fix that crack. Doesn't seem like an easy
or cheap fix since you're talking about the integrity of the foundation being compromised.

Some of the old ones, say from about 8 years back, you can no longer fill. I took mine back to a propane dealer for recycling. The modern ones can be refilled. I used to take mine to the gas station that had a propane refilling area. Now I just take them to the grocery store where they have full tanks on hand in a cage near the front door and I just exchange them. A lot of the exchange tanks are Rhino brand. They are all over the place in upstate new york. You could probably exchange a tank that is newish and the'll just stick the Rhino decal on.
