Ah ha, I was right... that goes back a ways

I love the Elise, but I confess, as I no longer see myself doing track events, I no longer lust after an Elise
Now I just pass my days lusting over the non-existent hot hatch...

The powers that be just sent this note out building wide:

Spring is finally here and with that, reserved parking for motorcycles resumes this coming Friday, April 1, 2011. As in the past, no vehicles other than motorcycles will be permitted to park in those designated spaces beginning on Friday.

Very cool, although I do question that bit about Spring being here...

I too get privileged parking here at work, motorcycles are given a special place on the 1st floor of the garage, right next to the security guard's office. Last year there were 4 to 5 bikes that showed up, the one that was ridden the most was a little Suzuki, it looks about a 500-600 class, but clearly not a top of the rung 600 sport bike. My VFR looks huge next to it, but then again, when the yellow Gold Wing parks next to my VFR, my VFR suddenly looks dinky.

I question the part about spring too. This will be the first year that I can remember that the motorcycle parking was open before I started riding to work. We have approximately 25 bikes in motorcycle parking once the season gets going. Not bad for a building that has maybe 200 employees.

I have never seen an S for sale there so I've no idea what they go for but for sure they will be at least 150% more than here because of the tax. There is a window next year for me to import tax free and I would like to take advantage of that. Why i mentioned the focus is the cars imported new are sold to the dealer at a lower price before tax because the tax rate is SO high no one would buy. If one could buy there and not pay the tax because it was exported that would be a cheap way to get the Euro auto.
Riche, that is indeed a catch-22 situation. For sure it looks like RWD/AWD would be more fun in the conditions you have there. Have you considered a Subaru WRX STi? How about a Miata with the PRHT (Power Retractable Hard Top)? You could still keep the S2000 here, and drive the Miata as a fixed roof car or top down depending on the weather in Finland.

Here's another I enjoyed:

Winter-Tires-Summer-Cars

I would like to be reincarnated as Peter Egan. Writer for Road and Track and Cycle World. SCCA racer. Vintage car and motorcycle restorer. Blues guitarist. Sounds pretty good to me.

^ I read that one before. It was still fun re-reading it though. Makes a very interesting point about snow tires enabling rusting of cars. I like the easy narrative flow of his articles. Simply the best out there

But only because if the snow tires were not used, the car would not be driven.
It's not like snow tires are evil things that cause rust.
Salt and snow is what causes rust, the snow tires just make it possible for you to get around in the snow and salt.
