Did not have anything like that on my "base" 08. Peak power maybe makes sense... so you can see exactly where you are getting the most power for your RPMs.
But really, if you are even a little in tune with the car you should learn that instinctively after driving it for awhile.
I've never used an RPM gauge for when to shift, I always go by the sound and feel of the car.

CR-Z much better, I agree. Of course I criticize, only when I see a need for it.
Either those pics dont do the dash justice or the dash just plain sucks. I'd like to think the dash in my Si would look good even in spy pics which is why I was not too happy with the new civic.
It will be revealed at some point today.

be warned. 9thCivic first drive impressions of the 2012 Si. Most probably written from the fanboi perspective.

So the new Civic Si enters vtec at around 5500 rpm and redlines at 7k?
Unless they have some crazy close gear ratios, I think this thing'll fall out of vtec on every shift. It'll be just like the old Celica GT-S from about 10 years ago.
Maybe the extra torque down low compensates? I dunno...

There was one portion of the AutoBlog review that confirmed what I was thinking. This iteration is more of an 8.1 than a full and proper Gen 9. I was thinking they cant possibly keep this car going for a full cycle and then came across the portion where AB opined that there will be a newer generation (Gen X) within 3-5 years.
Pretty sure that will be a super special car.

Looks like Friday will be the only day the S will come out, then right back under the cover
as it has been since last Saturday.
