Arriving Sat aft. In all the times I have been to WG never had any time to explore the area, heck I haven't even been around the old historic course! My wife and I are heading to Wayland Fri night and heading out early on Sat. Anyone want to recommend anything? Places to eat, not to miss locations. We are pretty excited to have the time to explore.
See you all Sunday!

^ Paul - its nice that you are getting in a day sooner. You will be more relaxed for when the session starts.

You guys could do wine tasting around the Finger Lakes area. Knapp vineyards is one location. Can't think of others. As far as restaurants go, I've only been to the brew pub on Franklin Street and the restaurant at the Harbor Hotel. Both were nice.

A2,
I may be able to make it down Monday. Can I get in the track if I do without any special passes?

Harry - I don't think any special pass is needed. All you will probably need to do is to sign the waiver at the entrance.

I have sent SCDA an email to ask them if they have any restrictions. Also asked them about the possibility of getting a ride-along in an instructors car. SCDA will only allow passengers if an instructor is driving the car, so I figured I'd ask them right now to be on the safe side. I know Hogan is also thinking of coming out on one of the days.

SCDA is super fast:

Here is Ian's email to my questions:

Guests are fine
but u will need to put their name on the guest list after the drivers meeting
Yes, we can get them rides

Please send me a PM with your complete name and what day you plan to come (Mon or Tue). Let me know for sure by Sunday night.

Yeah thinking of getting up to WG tomorrow to explore the area a bit. We will probably do some wine tasting. I scheduled the Budget Inn for Sun. and Mon. night. I'll probably wind up staying at a hole in the wall a little further away just to save a little money tomorrow night.

As you guys are getting there ahead of time, be sure to drive the old course a few times (at the posted speed limit). You will gain an appreciation for the risks that drivers took back in the day when the racing happened on public streets. Get a pic by stone bridge too.

Also be sure to stop by the Seneca Lodge for a drink. A lot of history on the walls there.

I'm staying at budget inn, planning on arriving before dinner Sunday and staying thru Wednesday.

I saw Billman earlier for a checkup and holy shit, I dodged a bullet. Gruesome details to follow in person.

If you're reading this, thanks again Billman!
