And having Jeff along for the ride there and back is what made it fun. I even said he should ride along in a friends truck. But he decided he was going to ride with me in the civic and endure its lack of ac.

one final event remains for the season and I should be done mid-September.

Because wannabe race car

joking aside when the car was refurbished and lowered, a staggered set up was recommended. To keep costs low, I ordered wider wheels and tires for the front only.

then during Covid, I decided I’d get all fancy with Enkeis but Tire Rack didn’t have them all in the same color and the rep Jim (who works our site) said racers shouldn’t care what color the wheels are saying he often sees cars with mismatched wheels. I didn’t have a choice then.

in one of these pics, I’m running Motegi TrackLite that I bought from a civic guy as he said they’d fit all four wheel wells. But the Falken 660s run so wide they were rubbing on the rear fenders. So for Pitt race I ran the Falkens in the front on the TrackLite wheels and RPF1s with used RE71Rs in the rear. The rears were corded pretty bad at the end of the day, so it was back to the Hankooks that are mounted on the stock wheels as well as the TR brand wheels.

Actually Jeff doesn’t have a pic of me running the TrackLites on day 1. All the pics he took are from day 2. This is what the car looks like with the TrackLites

Final track event of the season yesterday. It was the CART Time Trials at Thompson Speedway. Going out in the first session on new tires (heat cycled by Tire Rack) I went four off on my out lap leaving pit lane. Felt like an idiot and didn’t do good to my confidence either. Nonetheless worked up to it and beat the other Civic Si (a 10th Gen) that was in my class driven by a guy called Nigel by the finest of gaps.

A day prior, I was at Lime Rock working Track Night and Mark355 came out with me and got his first taste of the track by driving the Track Tour laps. He also observed that everyone seemed happy to be there. I think he’s going to be getting on track next season.

couple of videos.

this was a two lap time attack and best time counted. Did a 1:25 on the first lap which is my fastest ever at Thompson

this was another video of a longer session

Just in case you wonder what happened to me, in about two weeks I'll be at Lime Rock with the MGA. I replaced the head on the engine with a flowed head, although it has not been shaved for compression. I'm also going to be running new to me H4 carburetors that I've had to sort because the rear carb was not functioning. Got the car started for a nanosecond this morning. But still putting it together.

Last weekend, I was at the Keene Hillclimb Reunion with the Volvo. We drove over to Ticonderoga. Here we stopped at an old Ukraine shrine on the way home.

I was wondering what you were up to. I did see those vscca posts about the commonwealth versus Italy. That should be a lot of fun.
