Well one the the guzzlers is registered to the business and the other one is my wife's car.. A buddy of mine is gonna sell me one of his shit box cars just so I have a title.. I'll get cheapo basic insurance and put it on that until I can get the business suv into my name

Any personalized plate you get will automatically be the new style. Unless you follow the suggested use of a cause plate. Down side to that would be less available characters usually.

Now I just heard that eventually we will all have to have the new plates by 2013. I check the nys DMV website but didn't see anything. Can someone confirm this?

I know that you can actually keep your old plate after you get the vanity... But you can't register it after the vanity plate... Im still trying to find out if what I heard is true... That eventually all plates will have to be the new gold blue empire plates. My buddy says he herd it at DMV fom one of the employees

I would think this would be true, it is the same thing that happened when ny went from the old style yellow/blue plates to the plates you have now.

Registration for my truck is due in June and it costs $30 more to go to the yellow plates. But I'm still allowed to keep my white vanity plates

Also when you get vanity plates you keep your old plates. You are suppose to destroy them so I don't think you would be able to register them after the fact
