SAT, August 20th, 2011 - Tri-State Drive
DATE: August 20, 2011
Event Name: 2011 Tri-State Drive
This is an image of last years route map. Our drive will more or less follow this outline with some key changes. Our drive for this year is longer than this one
Approximate driving time: 3-4 hours (based on traffic)
Start Time: 10:30 AM From the Hannaford Super Market parking lot in West Sand Lake NY
Finish Time: Approximately around 3-4 PM by the time we get to the Sports Grill if not sooner.
Pre-drive notes:
- There is a subway and a cafeteria that serve breakfast and a Stewarts gas station NEAR THE START LOCATION in case people want to fuel up
- Please bring radios if you have them.
- Ensure you have checked all fluid levels prior to start.
Drive Guidelines:
- Stay within your lane. I cant emphasize this enough. I had a Harley get in my lane briefly as I was on the pre-drive. We share the road with motorcycles and lets give them a lot of room
- Some of the roads we will travel on are through residential areas. No loud revving or speeding through there. I drive these roads often as do other enthusiasts. Lets not kill it for everyone by having people complain.
- Speed limits will be adhered to. This is a drive for fun, not a time, speed & distance section
PLAN FOR THE DRIVE:
- START from Hannaford Plaza in West Sand Lake, NY
- REST STOP at Hemmings Motor Museum in Bennington, VT
- Drive back from VT via section of Rte7 and Rte2, through Poestenkill and over some local roads to FINISH AT
- THE SPORTS GRILL, EAST GREENBUSH, NY (http://www.thesportsgrill.net/)
4 Middle Mannix Rd
East Greenbush, NY 12061
(518) 283-4555
FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS ABOUT START LOCATION:
- I expect to be here by 10 AM, so we can get organized and head out by 10:30 AM.
ADDRESS: Rt 43 and 150, West Sand Lake, NY 12196
(USE THIS FOR GPS: 3703 NY Highway 43, West Sand Lake, NY 12196. This is an approximate address. You have to cross Rte. 150 if coming from the East on Rte 43 and the Hannaford will be on your right)
For those coming from CT (Centurion S2K, Red Stwokay and possibly blueosprey90):
If coming north on Rte 150, Turn Right on Rte 43 and the Hannaford will be on your immediate right.
If heading WEST on Rte. 43, Hannaford will be on your left before the Rte.150 intersection. Look out for the West Sand Lake Fire Station on the left. The Hannaford is right next to it.
I'm attaching two pictures for you from Google Maps. When coming from the West on Rte 43, you need to go past the Rte.150 Intersection and Hannaford will be on your right. See the images below.

often summer will go by and we don't get too many drives in which is why I planned for this around the end of May. I'd really love to change it out to accommodate all the regulars that have supported the drive in the past but it is kind of hard with other things I have planned.
I sent Doug an e-mail for approval 2 months ago. If I cancelled this and scheduled for later or after Knapp it may clash with another event planned elsewhere (thinking fall colors in the Rochester area if that happens). If the weather does not cooperate then we will likely do this at another time and hopefully most if not all of you will be able to come.
We have a fall colors drive on Oct 1. Just using this thread to get that info out there hoping it will help you guys in case you want to attend.
