Running no plate in the front - NY

got pulled over 2x for this and both times I had to pay. First time was $50 and the next $150. I still don't run with front plates because it's just that much better looking.

What Skip is talking about is I have indeed gotten a ticket for no plate, but here is the rub. The ticket is typically of the same seriousness as say a broken headlight. The ticket is a warning notice that gives you a grace period to go get it repaired, the "ticket" is signed by a NYS Inspection Station. Then when that is sent into the judge of the township where you got the ticket the whole thing is dismissed.
In my situation the following day after I got pulled over it snowed, and there was no way I was driving the car in the salt just to show someone I put the plate back on. So I paid the $25 fee + the $25 surcharge and said screw it. So, it cost me $50, but oh well, I like it better off...

Yes, that is what my owners manual says. There are some counties that have signs "no radar detector use". I've seen those right over here near Albany. I'm not sure how those laws work. I should probably find out before April
