My +1's brother was an owner when the first local AMC dealership opened. +1 was the parts manager. I drove around in his Hornet (1973 or 1975?) 3 speed on the floor 8 cylinder for a while. (I think that's what it had) He had GREAT tires on that thing and we passed other cars that were stuck in the snow, and made it home safely during the blizzard of '78.
The seats in that thing were really low. He had to screw a block on the clutch for me so I could depress the clutch fully, and he built up the back of the seat so I could sit taller. I think I used a pillow too. LOL! They were not made for people who were only 5' tall.
