Mark's Invidia Q300 install
With the help of some s2ki'ers, I got my Invidia Q300 exhaust installed this weekend!
Box of loud received from the exhaust fairy!
Back from the sandblast/paint guy...excellent job!
My S with no exhaust, think I should run it that way?
Out with the old...
Jason (fitzys2k) and I under my S gettin' it done!
Install is done! The camera makes it look like the tips aren't
centered, but if you stand behind the car and look, they are.
The mini-car meet in my driveway. My S, Grovefromnh's Infiniti G35, Kenta's
Berlina S, Fitzys2k's Spa S and my son's 'stang. Kenta is coiling up the power
cord and Fitzy is under the hood tightening my throttle cable.
The whole process took about 3 hours. It would have taken a lot less time if I
hadn't had the exhaust painted. The muffler connections to the Y pipe were difficult
and it took some time to sand off the paint so the mufflers would slide easily in.
Other than that, removing the old exhaust (with the help of Kenta's electric
impact wrench) and installing the new one was a breeze! I still have some final
adjustments to do...one of the tips is hanging lower than the other but all that
requires to fix is loosening the clamp, lifting up on the muffler and retightening.
As long as I can complete that fix, I will be very happy with the fitment.
I also need to get some hi-temp paint to do a quick spray on the clamps. I
forgot to give those to the paint guy!
I took it for a quick drive on Saturday. It REALLY makes the S sound much
better and more like it should have been from the start! It is a tad loud for
my taste and there is some drone, but I think I won't mind that the more I
get used to it. I think I'm just used to it being so quiet that the initial drive
with it is obviously going to be louder than stock.
MANY thanks go to Kenta, Grovefromnh and Fitzys2k for their help with the install!

Yes, they are round. I'm going to see if the look grows on me to
the point where I keep them. I do like how BIG the tips are, MUCH
bigger than the stock oval ones.
I think it's going to be a huge P.I.T.A. to get the Invidia tips off and
then get the stock tips on, not to mention cost plus the fact that I will
be disturbing the integrity of the paint job, which could lead to the
paint having a weak spot and then having the chipping start.
I'm thinking the only people that will notice the difference are S2000
owners who know AP1 vs. AP2 exhausts.

Had a good time doing the install. If you want help sometime doing an adjustment or getting those clamps off so they can be painted, just let me know.

yeah I'm glad tightening the TB wire helps too. it's the first thing i do under my hood. also doing the coolant bypass works too. on hot summer days theres no lag when stepping on the pedal. theres no shudder either.

Mark355's exhaust had the muffler flats perfect too. Even, straight and parallel.
Ct Red's tilted a bit... more like a ^ if I recall.
Mark 355's sounded great and looked just awesome...

Got a pic of the shiny boxes and pipes on the back of the batmobile?

Oh, and btw, the only thing the AP1 drivers will notice is you are missing the black simulated diffuser.
Looks good though.
