Default Local lawyer recommendations?

Hey Fellas,

First time I posted in this section and was wondering if any of you guys could recommend me a lawyer for a speeding ticket my brother got in the city of Port Ewen. On the ticket, it lists the town as Esopus. I was planning to go with my brother to fight the ticket but didnt realize just how far it is from us (we're in the NYC metro area).

Does anyone know someone that they can recommend? I'm currently fighting a speeding ticket myself and while my lawyer can help my brother, he's gotta charge a hefty premium for travel cost to go that far north. Just trying to see if we have any other options. Thanks guys.

Jeff

Dont know about lawyers? But did you get pulled over by a local cop or a NY State Trooper? If its a State Trooper you will definitely need a lawyer as State Troopers will not negotiate. If its a city/town cop, then she/he may offer you a deal if you plead not guilty and show up to court.

Spoke to my brother just a little while ago. He seems to think it was local PD since the incident occurred on a local road. Keep in mind, my brother is a fairly new driver(almost 25) and this is his first ticket. He did get tagged going 60 in a 40 zone. That's not good, i know. My lawyer helping with my ticket said theres a much better chance it may get partially reduced. But who knows.

My brother did mention that the cop himself said to plead not guilty to the ticket... My jaw dropped when I heard this as it does seem to be weird. Does this mean my bro might have a good chance of getting a dismissal since the cop is hinting that he might not show?
