Thanks to Jake for organizing another great tech day at his home. Thanks to Corey as well for allowing all the S2000's to take up space in their yard. Plenty of fun and unlike last year, everyone had something that needed to be done on their car. Got to meet Greg, Mark, Joe and Steve (Curly Moe). Also got to meet Andrew, and met Dan and Alex for the first time.
The day started at 9AM and ended at 7 PM. I was the last car to leave after we had finished installing new pads on Joe's car followed by brake fluid flush. Here are some pics that I took. Mark should have some cool shots from his camera too.
and then I came home to a present from Mr. Blueosprey. How I wish I'd had this tool when we were retracting the pistons on Joe's rear calipers

Oh that number 59 is a lift hog !!
Well once again Jake saved the day by pulling the transmission out for the second time in a week. We got lucky in that he spotted some bolts laying in the bottom of the transmission housing and that warned us that something had come loose inside. I am not sure I would have spotted them and then the problem would have appeared again at Watkins Glen.
I wish everyone could have seen the effort it takes to remove a transmission, it is no easy chore and even with three sets of hands (thanks Joe and Alex) it is still a bear to re-install it. The starter nut is just plan maddening, Jake's attacks it with about 30 inches of extensions. The top tranny bolt is a real bear also, but Jake knows all the tricks on getting to them. It also helps to have an extensive tool set (the $250 ratchet is my favorite).
We also struggled getting that clutch master cylinder installed and bled, thanks to the smaller guys for helping with the inside work. You have to be a contortionist or get under the dash with the cage in the way. Alex did a great job both inside and under the car - if he ever show up at the track he is definitely getting a ride.
So its off to Watkins Glen on Thursday and we run Friday/Sat/Sun in the SCCA Majors race. This a qualifier for the National Runoffs at Daytona in Sept and there will some of the fastest National Caliper racers competing. I will get my ass kicked but I need to see just how fast they are so I know what to expect in Sept if I happen to get invited to the Runoffs.
This will be followed by the SCDA HPDE event on Monday/Tues and as many of you know Aashish has organized a discount for all S2000 drivers. Jake will get his bonus payoff as he will be driving the #59 for that event. Pictures and video to follow.
Many thanks to Jake and Corey for allowing the group to use their home for our meet. It was great to finally met all the people from the forum face to face, sorry I didn't get all that much time to chat, the race car is all consuming and that repair had to get done to stay on track. I rushed home to find an angry wife and then to have to help my buddy fix his bull dozer !
Thank god the rain held off until today.
