Solidarity Drive For Levi V - Saturday, July 20
Time to bag your best friend's wedding, forget your parent's 50th anniversary, order up a sitter to cover the baby's #2 birthday and otherwise clear your calendar for the big 2013 event in the North Country:
Starting at the Northway Exit 30, Interstate 87, about 2 hours north of Albany at 10:15 A.M. sharp!
Touring the best S2000 back roads that the eastern Adirondacks have to offer - where the highway surveyors couldn't follow a straight line, where the thinking population has left for California and where the state legislature has declared a mostly safe 55 mph speed limit.
PLEASE TELL YOU SIGNIFICANT OTHER NOW!
Here’s what others have said:
“The best drive of my life, amazing roads!” TheCarFather
“The tail of the dragon of the northeast.” BM612
“Just wild.” Foulone
“GREAT drive! Wonderful roads!” Tadashi
“Fantastic. Now I know what the S stands for.” Riggit Tony
“Epic” Lurchenstein
“Seriously wickedly outstanding!” Fasting
“My top s2ki meet thus far!” Mark356
“I hope HeadChef brings cookies!” Nancy

Unwritten Rules:
1. Be alert!
2. Stay in your established travel lanes! The basic NY speed limit is 55 mph. Several of these roads are nothing but (blind) curves but I do not expect to be puttering along at 15 mph. We are likely to encounter motorcycles coming at us from the opposite direction. If we get behind something slow on these roads, we will pull over and wait for it to get a sufficient distance ahead.
3. Drive within your comfort zone and safely. This is not a race. If you lose the drive leader(s) just follow the route and we will wait for you at the next convenient intersection.
4. Slow down in the villages! We will pass through up to eight (8) villages. There may be police in any of these plus on Route 73 (which we may take) We will not be going more than 30 mph through the villages.
5. Don't buzz the locals!

A few Solidarity enthusiasts have asked about hotel accommodations.
Coming from the South, in Ticonderoga, New York about 15 minutes off of Exit 28 (and about 35 minutes from start point)
Super 8 Ticonderoga, 1144 Wicker Street (at Rt 74 and Rt 9N), Ticonderoga 12883; 518-585-2617 Probably about $75.
Best Western Plus, 260 Burgoyne Road (Can see from Rt 74), Ticonderoga 12883: 1-800-780-7234 Probably about $160
In Elizabethtown, about 15 minutes off of Exit 30 (south) or 31 (north). E-Town is farther north when coming from the south. These places will be about 15-20 minutes from start point.
Park Motor Inn, 7529 Court Street, E-Town 12932: 518-873-2233 This place looks clean from outside. I stopped by over the weekend. They are open, probably about $75.
Namaste Inn (B&B), 12 Footbridge Lane, E-Town: 518-873-2332 (4 to 6 rooms, I've stayed here and it is nice)
Stonleigh bed and Breakfast, 18 Stoneleigh Road, E-Town 518-873-2669 (This is a bit hidden, off of Water Street. I think my daughter stayed here.
Super 8 Ticonderoga and Park Motor Inn most likely to be the least expensive.
