^ Jeff you can save yourself a ton of money and just drive the S2000 for faster lap times
That's how I got into this financial black hole in the first place!
( but it's been fun, notwithstanding)

^ Jeff, if you bought the OEM hardtop for the S, LRP will let you drive. I think thats what Daktruckie (Mike) of New England did.
But if you raced the MG A, then I get the benefit of coming to LRP and seeing all those beautiful old race cars.

This is a pre-drive in a vintage Bently of the "new" Springfield Vintage Grand Prix that the VSCCA has planned for next July. We lost our role as sanctioning body for Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix, and the Board of directors decided to pull the VSCCA's support for that event.
Although the video is slow and a bit boring, the racecourse looks a little dangerous to me.

I enjoyed the video Jeff. Track looks interesting although I'd prefer it happened in a less urban setting.
So do you have plans of running the MG A? Let me know I can be your pit crew member

That's the plan. Unless I talk myself out of it when I look more carefully at all those bridge abutments, telephone poles and parking meters.
I think the VSCCA will also have an event at Watkins Glen in mid June which I may run instead of the Lime Rock event. I'll have to figure out the gearing on my differentials because I may want to swap the rear end for the longer track. I look in the mail every day for the schedule.
Due to my lack of funds, I'm now planning to do the Skip Barber driving school at Lime Rock in the spring. I figure that I spent a bit more than 1/3 of my 2010 income on the racing - car, trailer, safety equipment, track fees, etc. You should have named this thread "Jeff (blueosprey90) goes BROKE in his MG A". Disgruntled is depressed -- Nancy's got out the Kierkegaard.

Aashish, you'll appreciate this. Maybe Doug too.
MGA as the Car of the Year. The first 2 minutes of the video are pretty cool, especially the opening scene.
I have the race schedule for next year. I need a back-up driver as Nancy has already kiboshed two major events, and I haven't even gotten started!

Loved the video Jeff.
The portion where the MG A was on track going around a banked corner was simply amazing. I think Im going to start lusting for one just like I lust after other cars out there.
But the question still remains whether I will actually fit comfortably enough into one to drive it

Sounds like you had a fun year with the MG A. I have a friend with a TD in VSCCA who's trying to get me to join with my XK120, but I have little interest in racing it (have a more modern track car for that stuff)
Just some advice - the VSCCA goes by the old SCCA rules, but for your own safety put a diagonal in your roll bar. With the forward support I know they don't require it, but it's your head. I hope you never have to use your roll bar when have seen a few VCSSA bars fail when needed - one on a very nice Jag special at lime rock a few years back
