A battery is a fickle beast.
I just had to replace one on my John Deere backhoe/tractor.
Out using it all day, parked it for a couple of minutes to talk to a neighbor, went to start it..... DEAD.
Tractor was OUT on the north forty, so it was a long walk.
Special battery made only for this application of course and JD dealer only.....
200 later and a long isometric excercise battery walk and I'm dieseling again.
This was on a 4 year old hoe, and the batt is connected 24/7 on a battery tender.
What a way to wreck your day.

Well here is my final answer...
2002 to 2010 is 9-seasons
Technically then my S2000 battery lasted 8.5 years
I replaced it on Saturday, the CRX-Si is once again happy
I got an Energizer from Sam's it was less than $65
I did not shop around, I just ran to the 1st store that could offer help other than Sears
Mr. Deals will cringe, but I got to drive the car on Saturday, and that was the goal
8.5-years to me is darn good, I believe more than ever the battery out of the car and into the warm house on the trickle charger is the way to go for longevity

In my case, I have 3-4 batteries to deal with, so I find it easier to put them all on a workbench. I rotate the tender to a different battery weekly.
This is my story as well
Once everything is in for the winter I'll have 3-batteries in a row on the little battery bench I made, and the charger sits on the lower shelf
My rotation method is hook up to a battery on Friday when I come home from work, and unhook it on Monday before I go back to work
The following Friday I just move the cables down to the next bettery
And I do this rotation almost all winter
This winter the little bench is going to look a bit empty because the S2000 battery is the same size as the VFR's

I can't believe I'm still on my OEM battery. 6 years, and I'm running a few extra audio goodies off of it

I'm still on the original, which means I'm approaching 10 full years. I've never had a battery last so long in any car, boat, flashlight... Then again, my S2000 remote battery is the original, as well.

Uh, oh. Now I've gone and jinxed myself.

We got close to 10 years out of the original battery in the Solara. My original S2000 battery is still working great.

Mine lasted about as long as yours. Doug. I would suspect that bringing it in for the winter deserves most of the credit, since my routine is the same as yours except for the trickle charger. I just leave it on a shelf all winter, then charge it in the spring. I don't think it ever got below 65% over the winter (and that was just this past year).
