My 9-year old battery (car built July, '00) will (barely) last until I park the car for the winter in a couple of days...

It's barely able to start the car in 40-degree F weather; no chance it would start the car if it were cold. I'll remove it from the car this winter, since the low specific gravity would allow it to freeze more easily.

My personal record: my '94 Integra had a battery failure in 2006. That sounded right: replace them every 6 years or so, so that should be the first replacement failing. Imagine my surprise when I pulled it out and it was the OEM, 12 years later.

I wonder if part of your situation is due to it being a daily driver

I'd have to check the date on the battery as to exactly how old it is, but I'm still on the original one that came with the car.

No issues here. The battery is likely 5 years old right now, we'll see if it'll still crank this Spring.

Mine was replaced by Honda under warranty when I had 36,785 miles on the car and had owned it 3 years and 24 days. Close enough, for sure. The car was acting possessed and the dealership decided it was because the battery had problems. First the wipers went on and wouldn't go off. Then the back window defroster was stuck on. I had to remove the fuses to stop them both. Then the car was dead, entirely. This month that battery was 3 years old (it was new on 11-10-06) and I've put 46,737 more miles on the car. I had it tested a couple weeks ago and it's still decent.

I think what did my battery in the first time was playing the stereo at meets. I quit doing that.

Oh, BTW, I took Jerry's car in for fluid changes before we drove to Colorado in October and our mechanic, Shane, tested Jerry's battery. It was going bad, showing weak under a load. Shane replaced it. I'm not sure when Jerry bought his '06 but I think it's just three years old too.
