Default Having some problems with the S.. need some help..

Okay.. a few things.. it started out with some clicking coming from the rear of the car.. I brought it into service @ Lia Honda in buffalo.. they 'fixed' it.. but I still have the same problem..

a few months passed. and i started having some tranny problems.. 5th gear was really hard to get into and almost impossible to get out of once you got in it.. so I took it to RayLaks Honda, (I dont bring my car to the same place twice when they cant fix a problem) and after arguing with them for a month or so about the problem, they 'tested it' and there wasnt anything wrong.. they finally took it apart and replaced the clutch and 5th gear synchro.. only upon putting it together.. they screwed it up and it didnt drive right when they tested it.. so after 2 more teardowns and rebuilds they finally gave it back to me..

Now sitting around all winter and not being able to drive my car has me thinking about it.. I'd like to get the rear fixed... oringally they tighened the axle nuts.. but it didnt work.. I'm wondering if the problem could be something bigger.. like the rear diff? something where there is a tooth missing on a gear? its pretty loud.. it clicks once when you first take off or go in reverse SOMETIMES.. if you go really slow though it doesnt make the noise..

Anyways.. I'm looking for somewhere to take it that will honor my warranty and not bullshit me about fixing the problem.. if it is something big I want it replaced.. I paid for a 7 year warranty and I want to make use of it if there is a problem.. I don't care how far I have to drive (within reason) 1-2 hour drive is fine.. I don't want to go somewhere that cant put it back together the right way..

Anyone?

I can't remember what year your car is. If it is an '00 > '01 I'm wondering about some of the TSBs that have been published for tranny, clutch and differential.

Also, if you have not already, post the same question in S2000 Talk, the body of experience is bigger in that forum.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Anybody else?

Well that is easy. You will have a drive to get there, but YOU WILL be taken care of!

Ontario Honda, 585-396-7770, Canandaigua, NY
Call and speak to Terry Sullivan, he is one of the service writers.
Be sure to tell him Douglas Hood has sent you and you need Paul's expertise.

wow ! sorry to hear about such an horrific time with your car, but that does not surprise me nowadays.
When it comes to tranny's there are but a few good Honda tranny specialists' out there.
I find most Honda tranny tech are sub par. In my neck of the woods, I've found most dealerships have or send the "tranny work" externally to a tranny specialist.
Take this example for instance, a friends '01 goes in for service, as
he's mishifted and the tranny has to be rebuilt.

Well they re-built the tranny, he gets to the dealer to pick up the car after weeks of agonizing waiting. Everything seemed fine until he went to dinner with his g-friend and got stuck in the parking lot as he found his car had no
reverse gear.

Yup! they rebuilt the tranny with NO REVERSE.. So all I can wish is that an actual tranny specialist works
on your car and not some mechanic who knows work for Honda for years kinda deal.

I had the clicking rear end on my '01 and had the TSB for the inner CV joints done to the car at Dick Ide Honda in Rochester. In my case, the clicking was just a minor symptom - I got a vibration only during acceleration. It was getting worse fairly quickly - some folks apparently have had it REALLY bad...
