What ever works best for you in your location is the key.
For me though, FedEx is not the smart choice.
The reason I say that, my UPS driver is awesome, he always drops my stuff off and goes on his way. The FedEx guy always leaves a note, then I have to call and beg for delivery to not be made the following day, pull the package off the truck and I'll come get it. So then if the drive all they way out there is not a big enough pain, I just love it when they don't pull it from the truck, and I have to drive all the way out there for a second time. I would say 8 out of 10-times I get screwed by FedEx and this dumb crap. Nowadays, I typically ask who the shipper will be, and if I can't get UPS, I try to buy from another company so I can get UPS, even if it costs more, because I hate the screwing around to get something from FedEx.

Often times, FedEx has always surprised me with dlivery ahead of time. With UPS, I know it is an agonizing wait, and then they update their schedule, like they did with you.
Both companies have their plus points and are great business examples with a lot to teach. However Fred Smith has instilled a lot of customer service and friendliness into FedEx.

Ups = Awesome for me too
Fedex = The WORST for me. Just aweful.
Doug and I on same page. Next one we'll be polar ops again. How does that happen?

I guess we'll have to keep you two apart at the drive

That my friend only happens if your package requires a signtaure. If not FedEx will leave it at your doorstep.
I have seen orders that specifically say (because I told the vendor to write up the order this way) no signature required, and what do I get? not the package, but a FedEx PostIt on my door saying they will try tomorrow for delivery because a signature is required...

Hmmm, wonder if I'll get my GPS today. (Not due until Friday.) I ordered before Doug, but opted for the slow train free shipping. I am Mr. Good Deal afterall! (Or is it Mr. Cheap?)

I can't wait for Saturday, I'm going to torture Aash with questions while we are driving along because my 255W is going to be in my lap the whole time.
