Unfortunately, I've read that the wider tires and increased aero will add drag and may increase fuel consumption. I'm already not a fan of the fuel conservation strategies in F1, and I think this may make it worse.

Good link.
For me it confirms that Lewis wants a wingman ( a la Barichello/Massa for Schumi) that will consistently finish second ( assuming a superior equipment)and not challenge him for the WDC.
Any established driver ( Max/Riciardo/Vettel/Alonso etc) that accepts this "apprentice " role would be admitting that their WDC quest is over. Not sure if Toto/Deiter will buy into this scenario anyway.
My guess is they'll sign a young emerging talent and hope it works out.
Red Bull will have improved Newey Aero, an improved power unit and the best driver combo on the grid by far. May turn into a Vettel/Webber soap opera but if that is under control, the Mercedes domination could be over.

In defense of LH, he's definitely hungrier than Nico. They couldn't be more different in background - the working class mixed race kid with divorced parents versus a kid that grew up in Monaco.
For somebody who started with everything, Nico seems to be a grounded nice guy.
I also think he probably snaked Lewis for a few babes over the years

I liked this response to the above discussion.
Nico Rosberg HASN’T behaved like a “champion”. Not in the slightest. Being able to put the number “1” on your car and defend that title is a fundamental part of being a champion. Why would you expect a champion to behave in a certain way?? They are humans, all of them – they have unique personalities. Everyone is different and what on EARTH is wrong with that? You come across as another of these people who believe that personality should be taken out of sport. That they should all be robots. What’s wrong with a bit of controversy?? As for your mistaken assertation that Rosberg never whined… Are you serious?? The guy is the biggest whiner I’ve ever seen interviewed. They stripped Hamilton of half his mechanics and gave them to Rosberg (and apparently there’s a LOT more to that story than has been revealed). Coupled with the fact that Lewis was probably the unluckiest driver on the grid in terms of reliability, his claim that it WASN’T Nico really winning the title, but circumstances combining to hand it to him, isn’t entirely unfair. Fact is, if you’re claiming that quitting as soon as you’ve won the championship is the “behaviour of a champion”, then you and I have VERY different views of what makes a champion. I’m not Lewis’ biggest fan but you can never accuse him of not being, or acting like, a champion. The guy absolutely LIVES to win. It’s such a stereotypically British trait to knock our sportspeople who want nothing more than to win at any cost. Whinging about how he’s not “nice” enough. I doubt he’ll lose much sleep over it fella. I would stop bashing successful people if I were you mate – it gets old. Quickly. You’re not the first and you won’t be the last but if you think Lewis would care what you think for a millisecond, then you’re very much mistaken. As they say “An elephant doesn’t notice an ant”
