Albany Area - Need Lawyer
Does anyone have a name and number for a good lawyer in the Albany area?
I got tagged for 90 in a 65 by a trooper on the NYST about 5 miles south of exit 23. I REALLY need a good lawyer.

Check out the local court you'll be going to. You may be able to plead down with the ADA at the court. I've done that - you plead guilty to "failure to obey a traffic device" or something similar. 25 mph over the limit may not be in the ballpark, though - check out the court to be sure.

I had to do the same when I was tagged for 81 in 55. Hired a traffic lawyer for $250 and he helped me reduce to non moving violation.
Look in your yellow pages for a lawyer and make sure he/she handle's traffic cases.

1st fill out back of ticket. Plead "Not Guilty" & ask for a written deposition by checking box asking for a written deposition. This will allow you to get a date in court 2-3 months down the road. The written depisition might have some mistakes in it that will allow your lawyer to get you off. Time to call the ADA is with in 24hrs of court apperance and cop a plea of "failure to obey traffic device" DA does not want a trial which is what you will be requesting by pleading not guilty. If the crime does not fit one must aquit.
For all out there ALWAYS ask for the written deposition, it is the quickest way to get a Trooper to hate writting speeding tickets.

Ok thanks guy guys. I sent the ticket in today "not guilty" and requested a deposition before I even checked this thread.
I found a lawyer too and he says he can reduce it down to a 2pt non-speeding.

Sorry for late response...
The BEST Traffic lawyer in the Albany area (and ive tried dozens) lol is Steven Cummins on Wolf Rd in Colonie.
Just send him a check... and bam..... all taken care of. No court appearance... nothing. Hell send you a receipt from the court.

soopa - It's really funny that you mention Steve Cummins, that is exactly who I am using. My GF still lives in Albany and she randomly picked a few out of the phone book. He said he could do it the cheapest and have no court or speeding points.
