^^ Just wanted to let you know. The last time they had the Angelina Jolie movie shooting here, it took me an hour to get to work - an otherwise 25 minute commute (including parking the car and walking to work).

They are filming this one on the street in front of my office

Won't be able to make the D&D. Dang! Aashish, Doug was the one who taught HT shifting to me many years ago. You're in good hands, I can attest to that. I can do HT very smoothly on the S2000 and Maxima.

Aashish, I'm assuming you already do rev-match down-shifts (without applying brakes). If you do, you're about 40% there. The 1st trick when you first start to learn HT downshift is to overcome the strange feeling of stepping on the brakes while using the same foot to touch the throttle.

The other 2nd trick is when you do get over the 1st trick, make sure when you are blipping the throttle while braking, that you keep the same pressure on the brakes. You don't want to loose braking pressure while you do your HT, as it could be dangerous, especially if you're entering a corner fast.

I'll leave the rest of it in Doug's hands. He'll teach you how to do it, and then you'll have to just practice it for a while until it becomes second-nature.

The pedal setup in the S makes it really easy to do, much unlike the picture you see in Edmunds - the one labeled WTF by Doug.

John -- thanks for the vote of confidence I got a sense I could learn a lot from Doug and have been badgering him for a long time to see if he will teach me HT. I do rev-match downshifting and I presume Doug will have to evaluate my skills to see how much work I need. Hopefully he will find that I can be helped

Doug - You can drive the Si to your hearts content, so that you can get comfy with it. I totally understand that you need to feel comfortable with a car prior to performing HT manoeuvres.

It won't take much time, I just have to throw it into 1 or 2 corners and I'll be all set

Out of curiosity, what shoes will you be wearing or have with you? The reason I ask, is because if you want my tricky little method of brake application, you need to bring the thinest sole shoes you got so you can almost feel the brake pedal in your toes.

Where are you and Doug going to be after 10pm? I have choir practice that will end by 10pm and if you are still hanging out, I can swing by. Are you going back to Albany right away after dinner?
