Today I will drop the car off at the bodyshop so the adjuster can take a look at it.

Did anyone that had hail damage get a form from their insurance company from the State of NY saying its state law that any "accident" over $1000 in damage has to have an accident report filled out and sent to Albany within 10 days? Do I really have to do this for a non moving accident?

I dont think that is required due to the fact that you did not have a motor vehicle accident.

Progressive seems to think so, unless this form is sent to anyone with a claim over 1000?

Just an FYI, I called progressive and they couldn't give me a definitive answer so rather than risk a license suspension or possible misdeneanor for not reporting it, I filled out the form and mailed it. The form does state that it is State Law to file any accident over $1000 in damage and failure to do so could result in license suspension and/or a misdeneanor, neither of which I want to deal with. If I were a resident of NY I would err on the side of caution and file. Just my $0.02
