While you Whistle Dicks derail the topic, please recall that the raison-d’être for this thread is to discuss Getaway in Stockholm 3. You’ve all seen the film by now and are anxious to receive my opinion.
In a word, I was disappointed. The opening scenes shot from the helicopter piqued my interest. But after that, the film floundered as a rather dull one car chase sequence. The story line was impossible to follow. No plot. No character development. Just some crazy guy wearing a crash helmet. Driving all over Town at a high rate of speed. What’s he doing? Looking for an ATM? Trying to find a Chinese Take-Away? Emergency search for “women of the night” for which Stockholm is famed?
For an instant or two in the later part of the film, it looked like a police chase with an unmarked car might ensue. I looked forward to the punk being pulled from the car, protective head gear ripped off and the lad throttled by the local constabulary. But even that promising story line never developed. It faded fully with a U-Turn.
As for the Art Direction, wrapping the entire film in “dawn gray of midnight” was a mistake. For a depressive, it was just too depressing! The idea of the yellow speedboat was excellent, but why a speedboat at all? Only a knucklehead would steal that kind of car from under a bridge, drive it all over Town to call attention to the crime and then leave the car at the dock just to take a ride in a pretty boat!
This film raises only one question never answered in the closing credits: Why? The lame story offered about the police hoping to identify the driver so they can pull his ticket for running a red light? That’s bogus!
Fasting said it best: an unenthusiastic "just wow." I agree. Those boring track day films by Blueosprey90 are so much better! -- Well at least the lighting -- usually.
I give this film three
