was told about a site this morning, it has alot of your personal info on it. Name, addy, phone#, age, marital status, value of home, hobbies, etc.
SPOKEO.COM
look yourself up. once you find yourself, pull up your profile, copy the URL, then go to the bottom of the page where it says "PRIVACY". paste your URL, then follow the instructions for removal. You'll get an email to finish the process.

Our repeated trials with requesting the blocking of a particular record through Spokeo's privacy page have found the procedure to be highly questionable: no attempt is made to verify that the person requesting the blocking of a record is the person identified by that record, our efforts have never resulted in a successfully blocked record, and Spokeo's customer service group has not responded to any inquiries. All of this has led some to speculate that one of Spokeo's core businesses is actually the collecting of e-mail addresses.

Using any of these sites or any social network will leave your stuff on the internet. Most of the time these sites use (get ready for this) PUBLIC DOCUMENTS to post information. I have done a pretty good job of keeping myself off the internet thanks to never belonging to any social network or site of that manner. The only thing that ever comes up after some extensive digging is the house I used to own and what I sold it for.
I am sure that once you search for yourself it will try to gain more information on you from your own computer. It can easily do so by running some web script on the back end. Malware/spyware keeps me employed. Not so great of an idea to post that site if you ask me.

All this information is readily accessible from multiple sources. This site just compiles it and probably uses algorithms that will search for corresponding information on social network sites etc... I'm sure when you ask to have the information blocked you're in fact verifying the information as correct.
Your doing more harm than good by going to it IMHO.
