I use Google Desktop (without the added functions) and Earth. I chose to not use gmail when I read their policies that they screen your mail to provide you with personalized ads to help 'your mail experience'. No thanks!

I think when they say screen, they are talking about a simple filter picking up keywords; All companies screen your email, its called a spam filter

i got gmail when people were paying 25 dollars for it! I thankfully didn't pay for it, but i felt all cool for about 10 days until everyone else got it
