When you say forward do you have to shift the bar to the rear of the car? When we installed Ryans we had a similar issue but it was towards the back of the car, We put the straps as the directions had said but they actually had to be shorter. If its to the front of the car thats odd because its sapp to go further than its sapp. to but the straps are meant to stop it in the correct spot.

The bar definitely has to go BACK when lowering the top.

Yeah that rear bar has to be pulled all the way back when the top is open. Probably have to adjust the rear straps so it pulls it tight when opened.
EZ-ON seems really nice to me. Got mine for $382 shipped with the glass conversion. Installed it myself and sold $250 worth of patches from my old top. Can't beat that!
