Before you throw away your old one, do you mind cutting me a piece (1-foot x 1 or 2-foot). I need it for a little project of mine. Thanks!

Anyone know how important those steel cable straps on the sides are? What would happen if they weren't re used? One side was previously snapped in half. Looks like how I have it now they will be showing on the sides with the new top. Top went up and down perfectly when they were disconnected.

Also the rear 4th bar seems to not go back quite far enough. Do the rear glass conversion straps need to be tighter so they pull it back when top is fully closed?

The steel cable straps hmm I believe your talking about the tensioners the new top should have them attached I believe, mine did. what year is your S? Mine is a 00 and I went with the glass top so I had to make my own straps to connect the last 2 bars together. When putting the top back just put pressure on the bars with your hands to make sure the front bars foldback or else it will not go back all the way and you wont be able to open the secret compartment. Also did u make straps that attach from the side of the last bar to somewhere behind the seat? Cause that helps pull the bar into its position. Sorry hope this helps pm if you need more clarification i know i wrote alot

We got it all done. Looks great! The wire strap I was talking about does not come with the new tops. it is riveted to the stock frame. At least on my '01 it is. Was able to drill out the rivet and feet it through a part of the new top and then re rivet it back in. The instructions were not correct for attaching the straps for the glass conversion so had to remove them and then re installed with the top up and rear bar pushed as far back as possible. Over all came out awesome! Massive improvement from my busted up plastic window with torn top lol.

Some pics of the before, during and after.

The rear one side is a little bit loose but think it will work itself out after a little while or I will just adjust it a little bit somehow haha.
