Where to take driving lessons?
Where is a good place to take driving lessons in this area?
What do you usually learn in the first few lessons?
Are there driving schools that also rent out cars? What kind of cars do they lend out?
How much do they run around with and without your own car?
How many hours of driving time should you expect?
Also ... hope this never happens, but if you have your own car, you have an accident on the track, does your regular insurance cover that? Or do you need to purchase a separate insurance for the event. Most likely it won't be a collision with another car (as I hope they don't let you drive too closely with other cars when you are a novice????)
Thanks.

KS320 - Explain what you mean by driving lessons?
Are you looking for High Performance lessons, or defensive driving, or what?
skipbarber.com is one. Bertil Roos is racenow.com . I did the one day by Roos at Pocono. It was 4 sessions in a Formula Ford car, open wheel, the 1.8/2.0 L Toyota engine in a very light weight car.
I believe the Skip Barber one day class is a combination of wet weather steering/manuevering, skid pad, some autoX etc...
You're best bet is to do some searching online and then investigate against your criteria.

classes will depend on your experience and what you want to do. I just took "car control clinic" class with skip barber. though it was very intense class, I would not recommend for beginners. (also, they will not let you take the class unless you have previous experience.)
their classes are excellent but it is pricey.

I recommend that you sign up for an HPDE with either NASA or PDA - and the track of choice is Pocono.
It is cheaper than driving schools - about $200/day.
You will:
Drive your own car - (that adds a little cost as you should get better brake pads adn make sure your car is maintained)
Get good classroom instruction - although most is safety related as to how to behave on the track.
Get 3-4 20 minute sessions of seat time with an in car instructor.
Learn that driving on the track is almost completely different than the street and you will have to unlearn lots of things.
Have so much fun it is unbelievable.
Pocono is good because it's wide open (not scary) as compared to LimeRock. (the turn into the uphill is a bit treacherous)
