I dont know about museums of natural history. It's kind of chaotic there and arranged out of order, i always hate to go there with GF, i'll rather go full tour on bronx zoo as weather is getting better.

If were to add places to other's list up there, I would add monster speed boat which you can ride at 38th st. i believe. And helicopter riding right next to it.

And I would definately add some small shows along with broadway shows in your list like stomp or blueman show or cool jazz bars.

Also, you should sort out bars to go at night with your gf.
Some of my choices for the tourists are hudson lounge / bar 89 / maru / the glass / w hotel / i forgot the name but it's at top of the marriot hotel in time square. marriot marquis or something

Oh oh!!! I almost forgot the one of the coolest place i have been couple weeks ago, you should definately check out M&M store in time square if your gf is into those cute thing. My gf went nuts when we get there, we literally spent more than 2 hours in that damn store.

So your daily plans should be like,
1. Major tour like sight seeing or visiting monumentals in the morning to afternoon.
2. Check cozy places for brunch or lunch like serindepity or some sort.
3. Walk through streets after eating and check out cool stores or buildings.
4. See the broadway shows / small shows at night and go to some nice restaurants as your budget allows.
5. Proceed to bars.
6. Proceed to other bars.

Probably you guys will be sick of touring the city in about 2 days so you should prepare long list of cool places to go to satisfy your girl.

Just refer to zagat's survey for the restauratants because at least it gives you general guidelines where to go,
and google some cool spots.

Have a great time visiting NYC.

With all the things we want to see, I've been thinking about doing a 5 hour guided bus tour.

Any thoughts?

Does the tour have the majority of things you want to see/do?
If so, do it. If not, skip it.
The subway is an experience that you must have.
Maybe it's just me, but no one I know that lives in the Metro area has ever taken the bus tour. Now the Circle Line Boat tour, yes.

^ Ya, it covers most of the things we want to see/do including a boat tour.

Figured we could do that on our first day to get an idea of where things are.

The subway is a must

So do it!
Everyone needs to do what THEY think is best for them.
We only offer suggestions for things WE know/enjoy.
You are the best judge as to what YOU would like.
