Default What to do in NY?

Hey Guys.

I'll be spending next week down in NY City and was just wondering if you locals would have any input into good things for the GF and I to do. We're obviously planning on checking out all the standard tourist spots, but what are some other good things to see/do?

Thanks for all the input.

It would help if we knew
1) What are your interests? (museums? Ships? Art? etc.)
and
2) What do you already have on your list of things to do/see? We could help you maximize your time here.

NYC is full of lots of amazing places/things...after all, it's the greatest city in the world!

Fair enough

Already doing The Guggenheim, Empire State Building, Natural History Museum, Central Park, Little Italy etc.

We want to do things that really give a good snap shot of what NY city is culturally.

Hope that helps.

Whenever I have friends visiting NYC, I'd always take them to Brooklyn (1st stop via subway) and then walk back to Manhattan on the Brooklyn Bridge. The view is amazing and you get to enjoy it all the way back at your own pace. I prefer a morning trip here.

For an even more incredible view, try top of Rockefeller Center. It'll probably be less crowded (less wait) than the Empire State Building. And I believe there's a bar up there for drinks if you choose to sit down. Go there right before the sunset.

Statue of Liberty
World Trade Center site
South Street Seaport
The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum (may be closed--check website)
Metropolitan Museum of Art
A Play or Musical on Broadway
The Bronx Zoo
Brooklyn Botanical Gardens
A baseball game at Yankee Stadium (if playing at home) There's nothing like a NY fan!

What's your taste in Restaurants?

Great suggestions. Thanks

I think we'll be doing most of our dinners in Little Italy. Lombardi's is on the list.

If you are interested in Italian, there are other restaurants throughout the city that you might like to try:

Patsy's http://www.patsys.com/restaurant/dinner-menu-html.htm
Trattoria dell arte http://www.trattoriadellarte.com

I suggest you plan your big meal to be lunch...it will save $$$ no matter where you eat.
