When I crank my S2k it makes an odd noise that only lasts about 1 to 2 seconds. Almost sounds like the starter keeps going for a second or two after the engine is already running. It's gotten worse over the past few months.

Any ideas?

Jeff installed a sandblasted new TCT its not that not sure what It could be!

yea, i used to get that when it was really cold outside.
its very sporadic

 

Val Yea it only happens on 1st startup when Its cold after that It wont do it when its warmed up kinda weird

Ryan it does sound like it but i dont know why it would be sticking

 

The other Ryan, Moddiction has the same problem and he said his sticks

i remember i discussed this with Joe (silvia2nv) and he actually pulled his started and lubricated the shaft with mobil 1. i think it helped for a week and then same old problem.

i dont use my car enough in the winter to care haha

 

Starter is sticking. Mine has done that since I bought the car 2 and half years ago. Has not gotten worse or anything so I don't mind it anymore. Is a nasty sound though haha.

 

X 2.....many weird noises from cold....some due to low oil in regards to mine....def during startup.....and def cold starts arghhh

 

timing chain tensioner. get a new one from billman.


EDIT: just reread your post.... how long ago did you do the TCT? maybe you should check it for the sake of argument.
