Default Tranny? Engine?

Sup Metro,

Just got a call from my brother...he had the car today...before he got to his street he heard a popping noise...he wasn't beating on the S (accroding to him)...now car wont engage into gear...he only tried first gear and it won't go in...his foot was on the gas at the time and then the car just stopped accelerating...i wanna cry...btw car is completely stock...its an 02, only thing done to it wan an upgrad to an ap2 trans back in april of 2010 by Jeff D...any help, input or advice will be appreciated!...texted Jeff, i know he's busy, if the problem can't be figured out, I'm gonna have it flat-bedded to his new place....Thanks :'(

This happened to me once (no popping noise though)I thought the clutch was done but it turned out the clutch master cylinder was leaking. Did you check to see if there was any fluid in there? Any fluid by the clutch pedal?

car does go into gear when off...noise comes in when clutch is released in gear or not...checked clutch master cylinder fluid and its full...i hate these situations ...will check the clutch pedal tomorrow since its getting dark already...thanks for the input guys

Check the slave cylinder, when you push the clutch pedal down you should see the rod extending on the fork. You said there is a noise when the clutch is release, that sounds like a throw out bearing or some internal clutch component.

It's either the clutch or the fork.
The pedal must also feel funny.
If all the fluid is there you will have to pull the tranny out of the car and see what it is exactly.

thanks guys...it will be flat bedded to Jeff's place in a few weeks...i just hope its nothing too serious...and yes, the pedal feels a bit funny :/
