Alright Alright already. 50% and no darker. My friend suggested me tinting the windshield... Might it be pretty hard to see at night with that and i know for sure very illegal.

Jeff, here is my take on tints in NY (good god Ive had my share with the law)....

First things first....IT IS ILLEGAL TO TINT THE WINDSHIELD AND FRONT WINDOWS IN THE STATE OF NY ANY % !

Now that we got that settled....50% is useless....you can see clear through the windows during the day, and at night......the green tint honda uses for their glass is the equivalent of 60%.

Next, unless you park on the street, or go through a roadblock, I have never known anyone to get pulled over just for tints....Usually get pulled over for speeding, and then you get bagged for tints....(speeding, running a light, etc)

Next, the s2000 has 2 very fast windows. If you get pulled over, you can drop them both in no time flat, and no one is the wiser.

Are you tinting the windshield?? If not, your car will look stupid. The s2000 is the kind of car where you see the windshield and a side window at any angle....so itll look stupid.

Finally, what do I recommed??? Either dont tint, or tint limo. Looks beautiful (windshield 35%)...and like I said, Any kind of tint is illegal....there are no degrees of illegality, so if you rob a bank, dont steal $50 bucks.

Im not tinting my windows, because I park in the city too much, and that is asking for tickets. (for anyone who says you cannot get tickets while parked ON A PUBLIC STREET, BS! In NY you can get a ticket for anything other than a moving violation while you are parked anywhere public <basically everything but driveways and garages>)

And Jeff, since you dont even have a front plate, which is a much bigger cop pisser offer , get some black tints.

Hope that helps......tell us what you decide.

(downside to tints, your windows get slower)

He's wrong. You're allowed to tint the front windows 6"'s from the top down any %. The front sides you can only tint to a certain extent. I believe it is 30% not sure on that. Everyone else might be right on it though. Cars come with a slight dark hue from factor that's considered tint which is just to block the sun from completely damaging your eyes.

50% tint is not completely see-thru at all. Not on the s2000. Especially not in a black interior s2000. I've seen Allen's car and it does look tinted even with 35%. It's pretty dark and he's got a blue interior.

Word of advice...dont go all out with 100% black tint. It's not worth it getting harassed by cops at all. Not to mention you wont be able to see anything through the windows either.

Im not wrong....New York State prohibits tinting front windows,( THE DOORS!!!)

You can tint the windshield 6" from the top, but I didnt state that as an option because it looks retarted. at night, 35% is dark....there is a HUGE difference between 50% and 35%.

Ive had/been in every single % tint on any color interior. I dont car if the inside of your car is a black hole, 50% is see through. Period.

If you dont want limo, get 35 all around, anything else is a hugeeee waste of money.

During the day, limo is perfetly great, but at night, its a little tricky. (these after all, are TINTS!)

Again, if you have the bad luck of getting harrassed by cops, you will be harrassed for 50% or limo, because they are BOTH ILLEGAL!

TO each his own.....

And Rasheed....as to what you are saying, NY allows a tint of 70% for the front windows.

90% OF ALL AUTO MANUFACTURERS COME STANDARD WITH 70% tinted windows.

Honda/Acura 70% green

BMW/Benz 70% Blue.......etc

You can totaly have the front windows tinted 70% of light has to be transmitted through. but if it isnt crazy dark no one is gonna pull you over for it. If it was illegal to have any tint on the why would the troopers carry a device that slips over the window and measures the ammount of light passed through? Since i have been pulled over and had it done and the cop told me 70% has to come through i think i will stick to his side for this one.

What I am saying is that the stock tint on most cars is 70%. Meaning you cant legally tint anymore. NYC police does not have lumen testers ( device used to measure tint darkness)

Just for reference....MY friend Jack who does tints professionally, has a lumen tester. We tested my RL, and the windows came up at 72.9% (actuall measurement was in lumens, but then converted to % with a formula)

The sunroof measured at 13% and change.

Here is why i want to do 50% and not 35%. I want tints to change the look of the car and thats it. I don't want to hide behind the tints. 35% will be hiding, 50% is definitly noticeable on a black interior and especially on a light colored car. With 50% you have a smoked look to the windows that you clearly do not have without tints. 50% tints at night just let others see shadows inside the car, you can see clearly through 50% during the day though.

Well, there you go Jeff. Problem solved. Good thing with the s2000 is the windows are tiny and only 2 of them. SO if you dont like the 50's you can always go lower for almost no cost.

Would anyone be interested in a tint groupbuy? I can talk to the tinter and see what he can do if we all have it done on the same day maybe we can get a discount price. Should be cheap since only 3 windows.
