clyde, go to court and talk to the prosecutor. say is there any way you can take away the points and i will pay a higher fine. they will say well i can make it unsafe driving. it is 0 pts and a $250 fine plus a $200 state of nj surcharge plus $30 in court fees.

its your best bet. especially since this is your first ticket ever.

i have done this several times in my 10 yrs of driving and it works. you get 2 of these "freebies" every 5 yrs.

try and show up with an attorney i did (brother in-law) and if tyhe judge is in a jolly mood maybe he will bring it down to a stop sign with no action on your license. Thats what i did. Think i paid like 100 bucks too

LOL, that's the exact place where I got mine.

and yeah, what orangebarius said is correct, that's the exact amount I ended up paying + a very slight increase in my insurance premiums.

THE COURT DATE ON THE SUMMONS IS FOR THE FIRST APPEARENCE TO PLEA GUILTY OR NOT GUILTY ONLY!!!!! IF YOU PLEA GUILTY ON YOUR FIRST APPEARENCE YOU WILL TAKE THE POINTS AND THEN PAY YOUR FINE AT THE WINDOW. IF YOU PLEA NOT GUILTY AT COURT THEN THE COURT WILL RESCHEDULE YOU ANOTHER DATE FOR A TRAIL.
NOW YOU CAN AVOID THIS STEP IF YOU CALL THE COURT TELEPHONE NUMBER ON BACK OF THE SUMMONS AND TELL THEM YOU WOULD LIKE TO PLEA NOT GUILTY AND THEN THEY WILL RESCHEDULE YOU FOR A TRAIL ON A LATER DATE, WHICH WILL BE SENT TO YOU VIA MAIL. BY CALLING THE COURT OVER THE PHONE YOU WILL NOT MISS A DAY OF WORK AND SKIP THE FIRST APPEARENCE PROCESS WHICH IS ONLY PLEAS ( YOU WILL NOT SPEAK TO THE PROSECUTOR ). YOU WILL SPEAK TO THE PROSECUTOR AT YOUR TRAIL. GOOD LUCK!

What state do you have your license in? if NY just pay the fine and move on, points are not transferred from other states to NY.
