Speeding Ticket

Speeding Ticket
Just got my first speeding ticket a week ago. The ticket was for doing 65mph on a 50mph zone. I've read of people going to court and pleading for a lesser charge (possibly one with no points). What is the process? Do I just show up to court and talk to the prosecutor?

What court is it? If its 16 Cooper street in Hempstead than its very easy to plea bargain.
Just wait for them to call your name when you get there, go up & chat with the DA, he offers a deal, then you wait to see the judge make the plea.

You can get it dropped to 0 points and pay a big fine.
I believe 1-14 mph is 2 points, 15-29 = 4, so you would fall into the 4 point category.
I had a similar speeding ticket (15 over) a while back and got it reduced to 0 points, unsafe driving, but had to pay ~ 500.00. I also had a clean record. I believe you can plea bargain once or twice every few years (don't remember what it was exactly.) Just go into court and talk to the prosecutor and plea bargain.
good luck.

If you get stuck with 2 points you can take an defensive drivers course online and it drops two points from your record. Thats what I did when I got my speeding ticket last year.

Assuming you have had a clean record until that day, you're more likely to get through the day without points and just paying court fees. Almost all towns in NJ allows that.
Don't mean to hijack the thread, but I sent you a PM a few weeks back about the STI lip. You still got it?
