Default Seat Bolster Repair

has anyone local attempted to repair the drivers seat bolster? I have the seat out of the car for a little project i am doing, figured now is the time to fix the flat bolster. I googled, and searched the forum. Seems there is a good few ways to do it with foam, duct tape, and sponges. just wanted some local feedback. Thanks in advance.

I would buy a passenger seat and swap the bottom bucket.

That's what I did at least.....

When I releathered my seats the bolster was all broken and in pieces under there .. So I built it up with cotton balls and covered it with a terry cloth and cut some cardboard to put on the side to stiffin it up and put the new leather over that .. But I'm fat so it flattened out again eventually

I repaired my bolsters and detailed it in my build thread here:

The duct tape/sponge fix is pretty good. Make sure really overstuff it---you think it looks like enough fill, then you put the leather back on and see its not.

Good luck!

Hey s2kmarkus, I have left over foam as well as few rear benches from e36 sedan left from project I was doing, you can probably get some good automotive foam out of it. Just remember the foam is different in car seats with conventional foam they sell at fabric stores. Its much more dense.

Duct tape and cardboard just sounds like a pretty good temporary fix...but man...we talking about duct tape!! Anyway, hit me up if you want some foam.

took everything apart last night, was a pretty easy job. I had some dense foam from a headliner package i got from work, I stuffed the hell out of it and it seems to be good! Bolster once again has shape! we'll see how long it lasts. Thanks fellas!

What are some of the places that can I buy these dense/thicker sponges?

I would take the car to mccoys convertible and auto interiors for this. They are off queens Blvd and 69th st. You will be very happy with the price and the work if you take your car there for repadding.
