Default s2k Mechanics/s2k Gurus Chime In!

Hi all,

Last Friday I went to Honda of Princeton to have 4 new tires installed as well as perform an alignment. (My old tires we're slightly worn on the inside of the front tires)

They performed the service and I drove home (about 5mins away). I didn't drive the car all weekend since my parents were in town.

Today I'm heading to work which requires me to take the highway and I noticed the car felt like I was driving on a skating rink.. (the steering just felt everywhere and not tight like I was accustomed to with driving multiple S2ks) and under acceleration (more noticeable at higher speeds) the car pulls to the right and snaps back to center after I stop accelerating.

What did Honda do to my car?!?!?!?!

I'm taking it back there tomorrow morning and just wanted some opinions to arm myself with before heading there.

Also,

I noticed that every one of my wheels has this circular ring around the center, which I'm assuming occurred during the mounting/balancing of the wheels....

Thanks All

Rear tire pressure, size, wear, brand, and age must be an exact match.

And the ring on your rim is because who ever balanced them is stupid.

They should have coned the wheel from the front instead of using the universal plastic adapter.

4 new tires all around (oem sizing), so I can't imagine it would be that.

did they give you a print out of the alignment specs?

def check tire pressure as stated above, my right rear tire was 8psi low once & it made the car pull bad.

Depending on the alignment and the roads that you drive (crowning / crowned roads ) the S2000 can feel like a tram car. Constantly darting in and out of the ruts in the roads.

Also, caster settings can play a role in that feeling.

You should start imagining.

I ASSURE you if the car is pulling in one direction under accel then snapping back under decel, it is coming from the rear tires due to LSD lock.

Check the pressure on the rears, be sure they are the same.

If ALL (everything I listed) checks out, momentarily swap the rear wheels left to right. If the pull changes direction, it's the tires.

It can happen with brand new tires too. Been there done this a long time ago.

^^ Listen to the man. He is one of the best voice of guidance around here and is very knowledgeable. Don't be so quick to discount what he says if you havent tried it.
