The kid is even more motivated to work on the S, he just got his driver's permit.

Pretty much. The engine bay is empty except where the ABS/Brake Booster is. There are a few areas we had to hand brush to get to it. There are some spots left (very little) that needs painting, again, in the ABS/Brake Booster area.

If I had to do it over again, I probably wouldn't, but if I did, it would probably take me less than half the time, knowing how to go about it for next time. 70% of the time is just figuring out what I want to do next and how I want it to look like.

Looks Awesome Ray Are you planning on relocating the AC lines ? Then you have plenty of room for a turbo manifold

Yes and no.

Yes, I am relocating my AC lines.
No, I am not going turbo.

Here's a better shot of the shaved trunk. As far as the CR pedestal, as raw as it looks, I think it looks better than the plastic cover that it comes with.

Got more materials in this week and got started on the last heatshield. I think this is the most important heatshield coz this is the one that will block the hot air from hitting my new intake.

The new intake, a new no non-sense intake. Its as simple as its gonna get. Just loving the simplicity of it!

A picture of the heatshield all done. It will get the same paint as everything else, Hammer Black.

What's next... I'm contemplating whether to make a custom wiper cowl... I'll see next week how motivated I get.

I took it for a test drive today, its the first time it has started up since September last year. You could imagine the smile on my face! This car in general never fails to put a smile on anyone's face when driven hard. I miss the short shifter, the smell of the catless exhaust, the sound of the intake, the way the car handles around turns, being top down! The test drive is definitely the highlight of my year so far.

After idling for 15-20 minutes and after a quick test drive, the new heatshield gets really hot, which is good in a way, coz I know it has done its job of protecting the intake from direct heat. With that and the vented hood, I should be good with dealing with the dreaded heat soak.
