+43 is an easy fit up front on a x8. Just a slight roll.
The rear you need to roll it to the point where its a slight pull or even more. BUT you are at risk of damaging your paint even with a heatgun, especially in this weather.

you are going to need some rolling and fender flaring with these aggressive wheels. no way around it. the body will still look stock and you cant even tell the fenders/quarter panels have been rolled/flared/pulled.

i think he thought you meant he needed to get this type of flare. thats why he said hes trying to stay stock body
but what was meant by flaring, is pulling out the fender a bit.
this is a bad example, esp with the damage from flaring shown.
heres an example of fender rolling

So many factors come into what will fit and what won't.. What suspension setup, alignment, tire size and even tire brand are factors..
For a 17x8+43 17x9+31, 215/245 or 225/255 setup, with a finger gap.... the fronts liners need to be trimmed, tabs cut and fender slightly rolled. The rear would need the bumper trimmed, tabs relocated and a roll at a min. Depending on rear camber you might be able to get away with out flaring/pulling them.
