Smile Rediculous Price quote on a front end respray

Ok so I want to get my front end resprayed before winter so I can just put my Z away in storage. I got a bunch of rock chips and wanted to get rid of them. I went to Final Touch to go get a quote from them. I have chips on my front bumper, hood, and both fenders. They quoted me over $1,600! Now is that normal or is it just me? They said I have a 3 stage paint so that's why its expensive. What do you guys think?

Seems a little high but then I think its almost half the car, and what would a good full paint cost.

I'm not sure on the price but I can tell you this. With body shops, a lot of times you get what you pay for. I just rejected my wife's Accord for the second time today after being repaired from when a deer hit her and I can tell you that I'd never use this shop for my S. Finding a good, trustworthy body shop is damn hard.

(Yes yes I know this is where UCC chimes in. While they are fantastic and are very generous with us, even their work doesn't always look 100% like the factory paint)

Second, they aren't lying about the paint. Nice pearl coats like yours are almost always 2-3 step paint jobs.

Good luck, Dave.

depending on how many chips there are and how far back they go $1600 isn't out of the question. If there are chips/dents anywhere near either door the door will need a blend. I'm not sure what color your car is, but if it is a tri-coat it will cost more (as it takes more time to paint). If you have a scanner or good digital camera take some pictures of the estimate and I'll give it a once over and let you know if they are trying to rip you off.

that sounds about right ...400 a panel...remember they probably gonna spray the f bumper, hood, both fenders and half way on your door to make it blend right..looks like your car is pearl white if so theres 3 stages...you do get what you pay for..

Go to Maco... whole car $200

1600 is about right for 1/2 car, assuming they do good work
